Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect appropriate X5 connector at the K219 Lighting Control Module.
  2. Verify the appropriate component is not illuminated.
    • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver
    • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger
    • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left
    • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left
    • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right
    • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right
    • If any of the exterior courtesy lamps are illuminated 
  3. Repair the short to voltage on the appropriate circuit.
    • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver - 5966
    • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger - 5966
    • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
    • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
    • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
    • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
    • Go to next step: If the none of the exterior courtesy lamps are illuminated 
  4. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between B+ and the appropriate terminal below at the X5 connector.
    • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver - terminal 28
    • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger - terminal 28
    • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left - terminal 1
    • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left - terminal 1
    • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right - terminal 1
    • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right - terminal 1
  5. Verify the appropriate courtesy lamp is illuminated.
    • If the appropriate courtesy lamp is not illuminated and the jumper fuse is OK. 
    1. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance:
      • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver - 2150
      • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger - 2250
      • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 2150
      • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 2350
      • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 2450
      • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 2250
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit or ground connection.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
    2. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance.
      • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver - 5966
      • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger - 5966
      • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    3. Replace the appropriate courtesy lamp.
      • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver
      • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger
      • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left
      • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left
      • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right
      • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right
    • If the appropriate courtesy lamp is not illuminated and the jumper fuse is open 
    1. Test circuit the appropriate circuit or a short to ground.
      • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver - 5966
      • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger - 5966
      • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
      • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right - 4733
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Replace the appropriate courtesy lamp.
      • A9A Outside Rearview Mirror - Driver
      • A9B Outside Rearview Mirror - Passenger
      • {With HD7} A24D Front Side Door Outside Handle - Left
      • {With HD7} A24LR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Left
      • {With HD7} A24RR Rear Side Door Outside Handle - Right
      • {With HD7} A24P Front Side Door Outside Handle - Right
    • Go to next step: If the appropriate courtesy lamp is illuminated 
  6. Replace the K219 Lighting Control Module.
