Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Before installing, the bushing must be correctly aligned and oriented (3). Mount orientation is critical for noise and vibration performance.

    Using the DT-50806  Bushing Replacer (1), install NEW differential carrier rear bushing (2) into the rear suspension cradle.

    Differential Carrier Rear Bolt (1) - Install NEW [2x]

  4. Differential Carrier Nut (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  6. Differential Carrier Rear Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Differential Carrier Rear Bolt (1) - Install NEW and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  8. Remove the jack from under the differential carrier assembly.
  9. Connect the electrical connector at the differential.

    Install the rear wheel drive shaft (1) onto the rear axle shaft.

    NOTE:

    The rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (2) and washers (1) are serviced as a rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer kit consisting of 2 bolts and 1 washer.

    If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
  12. Install 3 NEW rear wheel drive shaft flange washers (1).
  13. Install and tighten the 6 NEW rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainers (2) in a crisscross pattern. Fastener Specifications

    Install the rear wheel drive shaft (1) onto the rear axle shaft.

  16. Install 3 NEW rear wheel drive shaft flange washers (2).
  17. Install and tighten the 6 NEW rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainers (1) in a crisscross pattern. Fastener Specifications

    Install the propeller shaft (1) in the vehicle.

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.

  20. Install the 2 propeller shaft bearing support bolts (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications

    Align the reference mark (3) between the propeller shaft flange (1) and the rear axle pinion flange (2).

    If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation.
  23. Install the 3 rear propeller shaft nuts (2) and 3 the rear propeller shaft bolts (1).
  24. Tighten the 3 the rear propeller shaft bolts (1). Fastener Specifications

    Align the reference mark (2) between the propeller shaft flange (3) and the output flange (1) of the transmission.

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.

    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation.
  27. Install the 3 front propeller shaft nuts (1) and the 3 front propeller shaft bolts (2).

    Differential Carrier Drain Plug (2) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

  80. Fill the differential carrier with axle lubricant.
  81. Check the differential fluid level. It should be even with the bottom of the fill plug hole to no lower than 2 mm (0.08 in) below the opening.

  83. Remove the drain pan.
  84. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
  85. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  86. Check the transmission fluid level. Transmission Fluid Level and Condition Check
  87. Inspect for transmission fluid leaks. Fluid Leak Diagnosis
