Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Remove and properly dispose of the brake fluid in the master cylinder reservoir.

    Using the appropriate trim tool, remove the left side and right side windshield wiper arm finish caps (1) from the windshield wiper arms (3).

  4. Windshield Wiper Arm Nut- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
  5. Grasp the outer end of the windshield wiper arms (3) and gently rock the arms back and forth to remove them from the windshield wiper transmission pivot shafts.

    Apply two layers of masking tape around the top edge of the left side and right side service parts to prevent paint damage.

  7. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully release the left side and right side air inlet grille panel extension clips.
  8. Remove the left side and right side air inlet grille panel extensions (1) from the air inlet grille panels and upper front fenders.

    Front Compartment Side Sight Shield Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [6x]

    Hood Rear Outer Air Inlet Seal Retainer - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  12. Hood Rear Outer Air Inlet Seal- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  14. Air Inlet Grille Panel Extension- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Air Inlet Grille Panel Retainer (1) - Remove [6x]

  16. Disconnect the windshield washer nozzle hose from the windshield washer pump hose.
  17. Lift the front edge of the air inlet grille panel (2) and slide the panel forward from both hood hinges to remove.

    Windshield Wiper System Module Shield (1) - Remove

    Disconnect the windshield wiper motor electrical connector.

  20. Windshield Wiper System Module Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  21. Slide the windshield wiper system module (2) inboard to release the grommet from the plenum and remove the windshield wiper system module (2) from the vehicle.

    Plenum Front Panel Nut (1) - Remove [3x]

  25. Plenum Front Panel Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]
  26. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  27. Pull the forward lamp wiring harness (3) out from the plenum front panel.

    Radiator Air Upper Baffle Retainer (1) - Remove [5x]

  32. Radiator Air Upper Baffle Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  35. Front Suspension Strut Upper Mounting Nut (2) - Remove [2x]
  36. Release the engine wire harness retainers from the front end sheet metal cross brace.
  37. Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace (3) - Remove

    Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Nut (1) - Remove

  39. Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt (2) - Remove
  40. Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace (3) - Remove

    Using a suitable tool, remove the clutch master cylinder reservoir hose (1) from the master cylinder reservoir.

  42. Install a cap or plug to the exposed hose and clutch master cylinder fittings in order to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Sensor - Disconnect

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake System Control Module - Disconnect

    Rear Brake Pipe Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  46. Front Brake Pipe Nut (2) - Remove [2x]
  47. Cap the 4 brake pipe inlets to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

    Disconnect the hood primary latch release cable end retainer from the hood primary latch release cable handle (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove

  50. Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  51. Instrument Panel Insulator Nut (3) - Remove [2x]

    NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

    Release the tabs from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove

  54. Disconnect the front floor courtesy lamp electrical connector.

    Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    Depress the brake pedal retainer (1) locking tabs.

  57. Pull the brake pedal (2) outwards to release it from the brake pedal retainer (1).
  58. Remove and DISCARD the brake pedal retainer (1).

    Brake Master Cylinder (1) - Remove

    Front Brake Pipe Retainer (2) - Disengage

  61. Rear Brake Front Pipe- Left Side (3) @ Front Brake Pipe Retainer (4) - Remove [2x]
  62. Rear Brake Front Pipe- Left Side (3) @ Front Brake Pipe Retainer (2) - Remove
  63. Rear Brake Pipe Nut (1) - Remove
  64. Cap the rear brake pipe inlet to prevent fluid loss and contamination.
  65. Maneuver the left side rear brake front pipe (3) out of the vehicle.
