Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716) 
  2. Remove the oil fill cap.

    Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  4. Lift up on the front of the intake manifold cover (2).

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Remove

  6. GM5398955

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]

  7. Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Tube (2) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  8. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (3) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (1) - Remove

  11. GM5404207

    Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 

  12. Thermostat Bypass Hose (2) @ Water Pump - Remove
  13. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

  15. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove

  17. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]
  18. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (3) - Remove
  19. GM5396496

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (3) - Remove

  20. Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]
  21. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove
  22. GM5420502

    Front Compartment Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  23. Front Compartment Air Deflector (2) - Remove
  24. GM5404213

    Hose Clamp (1) - Disengage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 

  25. Thermostat Bypass Hose (2) @ Thermostat Bypass Pipe - Remove
  26. GM5404215

    Thermostat Bypass Hose (1) - Remove
