Installation Procedure

  1. GM5862850

    Auxiliary Radiator Inlet Pipe (1) - Install

  2. Auxiliary Radiator Inlet Pipe (1) @ Auxiliary Water Pump Outlet Upper Hose - Install
  3. Auxiliary Water Pump Inlet Hose Clamp (2) - Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 
  4. GM5862849

    Auxiliary Radiator Inlet Pipe (2) @ Auxiliary Water Pump - Install

  5. Heater Outlet Hose Clamp - (1) Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 
  6. GM5862960

    Air Cleaner Assembly (2) - Install

    7. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  7. Air Cleaner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
  8. Install all retainers and wiring harnesses to the air cleaner assembly as necessary.
  9. Connect the 2 mass airflow sensor electrical connectors.

    Auxiliary Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (4) - Install

    11. CAUTION:

    Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution .

  11. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (3) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications
  12. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (2) - Install
  13. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) - Tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Left side shown, right side similar.

    Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace- Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install [2x]

  15. Front Suspension Strut Upper Mounting Nut- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  16. Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications
  17. Install all wiring harness retainers to the front end sheet metal cross braces.

    Radiator Air Upper Baffle- Upper (3) - Install

  19. Radiator Air Upper Baffle Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  20. Radiator Air Upper Baffle Retainer (1) - Install [5x]

    Transmission Control Module (1) @ Engine Control Module Bracket (2) - Install

  22. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) - Install
  23. GM5839232

    Engine Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications

  24. GM5839234

    Engine Control Module (1) - Install

  25. Connect the electrical connectors.

    Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe (3) - Install

  27. Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clamp (4) @ Engine Radiator - Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 
  28. Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clip (2) @ Engine Control Module Bracket - Install
  29. Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Clamp (1) @ Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose - Engage - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type 
  30. Connect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  31. Fill the cooling system to the proper level. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716) 
  32. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
