Removal Procedure

WARNING:

Refer to SIR Warning .

  1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.

  3. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Left Side (1) - Remove

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the top to release the clip.

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the top to release the clip.

    Radio Control Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  10. Radio Control (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  12. Instrument Panel Trim Plate (2) - Remove

    Heater and Air Conditioning Control Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  14. Heater and Air Conditioning User Interface Control (2) - Remove
  15. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Hazard Warning Switch Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  17. Pull the hazard warning switch (2) straight back to release.
  18. Hazard Warning Switch (2) - Remove
  19. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Move the steering column up so you can access the lower left corner of the instrument panel center trim pad (1).

  21. Start with a flat-bladed plastic trim tool in the lower left corner of the instrument panel center trim pad (1) and work your way clockwise.
  22. Instrument Panel Center Trim Pad (1) - Remove
  23. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Front Floor Console (1) - Remove - Front Floor Console Removal and Installation (with M5N) , or Front Floor Console Removal and Installation (with MQA) , or Front Floor Console Removal and Installation (Blackwing)

    Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  26. Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Driver Side (2) - Remove
  27. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Disconnect the hood primary latch release cable end retainer from the hood primary latch release cable handle (1).

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Retainer (1) - Remove

  30. Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
  31. Instrument Panel Insulator Nut (3) - Remove [2x]

    Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove

  33. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Data Link Connector Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  35. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Bolt (2) - Remove [3x]

    Pull instrument panel knee bolster (1) rear ward to disengage the clips, and lower past the instrument panel knee bolster deflector studs and remove.

  37. Disconnect and reposition harness as necessary.

    Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Bolt (1) - Remove

  39. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side- Outer (2) - Remove

    Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  41. Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Deflector (2) - Remove

    NOTE:

    Typical wiring harness shown. Individual wiring harnesses may differ based on option content.

    Wiring Harness Clip (1) - Remove [2x]

  43. Reposition the wiring harness. (2)
  44. Heater and Air Conditioning Evaporator and Blower Upper and Blow Lower Case Bolt (3) - Remove

    Floor Front Air Outlet Duct - Left Side- Inner (1) - Remove

    With a flat bladed plastic trim tool, start at the front and work your way back to release the clips.

  47. Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover - Right Side (1) - Remove
  48. { If equipped } Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Body Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  50. Unlock and lower the body control module bracket (2) from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator.

    NOTE:

    Prior to disconnecting the BCM, one or both front windows should be down to allow access into the vehicle once the door is closed.

    Release the detent (2) from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator.

  52. Detach the wiring harness clips (1) from the body control module bracket.
  53. Disconnect the body control module connectors (3).
  54. Body Control Module (4) - Remove

    Close and lock the body control module bracket (2) into the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator.

    Instrument Panel Insulator Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    NOTE:

    Use a plastic trim tool if necessary.

    Release the front edge of the front console extension panel from the instrument panel lower trim panel insulator (1).

  58. Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator (1) - Remove
  59. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Instrument Panel Lower Airbag Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

  61. Instrument Panel Lower Airbag - Passenger Side (2) - Remove
  62. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Compartment Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]

    Instrument Panel Compartment (1) - Remove

  65. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

    Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

  70. Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Instrument Panel Compartment Air Duct- Inner (1) - Remove

  75. Maneuver the instrument panel compartment air duct - inner (1) out from behind the Instrument panel.
