Installation Procedure

    Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Washer (1) - Install NEW

  3. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft (1) - Install

    NOTE:

    The rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (1) and washers (2) are serviced as a rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer kit consisting of 2 bolts and 1 washer.

    Due to the unknown shelf life, prepare the 6 NEW rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (1) for installation as follows:

    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 
    4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
  5. Install 3 NEW rear wheel drive shaft washers (2).
  6. CAUTION:

    This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  7. Install and tighten the 6 rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (1) in a crisscross pattern. Fastener Specifications

    Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Cover (2) - Install

  9. Install the 4 rear spring pins (1).
  10. Have an assistant apply the brakes.

    Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (1) - Install NEW and tighten - Fastener Specifications 

  12. Install the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
