Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  4. Have an assistant apply the brakes.

    CAUTION:

    DO NOT use air tools to remove the wheel drive shaft nut. Damage to the wheel drive shaft threads could occur. Use hand tools only.

    Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Nut (1) - Remove and DISCARD

    Install the DT-45859  Axle Remover (1) to the rear wheel hub and secure with 3 wheel nuts (2) hand tightened.

  7. Using the DT-45859  Axle Remover (1), release the rear wheel drive shaft from the rear wheel hub.
  8. Remove the 3 wheel nuts (2) and the DT-45859  Axle Remover (1) from the rear wheel hub.

    { If equipped } Rear Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) @ Rear Disc Brake Inner Pad - Remove

    Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

  12. CAUTION:

    Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

  13. Remove the brake caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire. (1)

    Disconnect the parking brake actuator electrical connector.

  15. Parking Brake Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
  16. Parking Brake Caliper (2) - Remove

    Rear Brake Rotor Bolt (1) - Remove

  18. Rear Brake Rotor (2) - Remove

    Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Bolt (1) - Remove

    Rear Wheel Hub Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

    Rear Wheel Hub (1) - Remove

    Align the wheel bolt (1) with the relief (2) on the rear wheel hub.

    Use the CH-43631  Ball Joint Separator (1) to release the wheel bolt (2) from the flange.

    Wheel Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD
