Rear Suspension Description and Operation
The rear suspension is an independent 5 link design. The links are constructed of stamped steel and are attached to a steel rear suspension cradle and aluminum rear suspension knuckles. The rear suspension cradle is attached to the body by rubber rear suspension cradle mounts which provide vibration and noise isolation. Rear coil springs suspend the rear of the vehicle and are placed between the body and the rear suspension lower control arms. They are isolated from the body by rear coil spring insulators. Additional body roll stiffness is accomplished through a solid steel rear stabilizer shaft attached to each rear suspension knuckle by rear stabilizer shaft links. Ride control is provided by twin-tube passive dampening rear shock absorbers. An optional electronic suspension control system provides real-time dampening that responds to road inputs within milliseconds to deliver precise dampening control.
The rear suspension consists of the following components:
- Rear Coil Spring
- Rear Shock Absorber
- Rear Stabilizer Shaft
- Rear Stabilizer Shaft Link
- Rear Suspension Adjust Link
- Rear Suspension Knuckle
- Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm
- Rear Suspension Lower Trailing Link
- Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm
- Rear Suspension Upper Trailing Link
