Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
WARNING:

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

WARNING:

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Remove [4x]

  3. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove

  5. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Remove [3x]
  6. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [3x]
  7. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Remove [2x]
  8. Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Remove

    Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Remove

  10. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Remove [3x]
  11. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Remove [3x]
  12. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Remove [2x]
  13. Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Remove

    Underbody Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [6x]

  15. Underbody Front Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Remove [5x]
  16. Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bracket Bolt- Left Side (3) - Remove [2x]
  17. Underbody Front Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Remove

    Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]

  19. Floor Panel Reinforcement (2) - Remove

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [2x]

    Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Loosen [2x]

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Left Side (2) - Separate [2x]

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Separate [2x]

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

    NOTE:

    The rear bumper fascia is removed for illustration purposes only.

    Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

    With the aid of an assistant, remove the exhaust muffler (1).

  28. Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) - Remove [5x]

    Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.

  32. NOTE:
    • The heated oxygen sensor in-line connector and louvered end MUST be kept clear of all grease, dirt, and other contaminants. Do NOT use cleaning solvents of any type. Do NOT drop or roughly handle the sensor.
    • The heated oxygen sensor MAY be difficult to remove when the engine temperature is less than 48°C (120°F).
  33. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (1) using a suitable tool.

    Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.

  35. NOTE:
    • The heated oxygen sensor in-line connector and louvered end MUST be kept clear of all grease, dirt, and other contaminants. Do NOT use cleaning solvents of any type. Do NOT drop or roughly handle the sensor.
    • The heated oxygen sensor MAY be difficult to remove when the engine temperature is less than 48°C (120°F).
  36. Remove the heated oxygen sensor (1) using a suitable tool.

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Remove [4x]

    Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter (1) - Remove

  39. Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Exhaust Heat Shield Nut (1) - Remove [3x]

  41. Exhaust Heat Shield Bolt (2) - Remove
  42. Exhaust Front Underbody Heat Shield (3) - Remove
