Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC P3171, P3176, P317E, P3183 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
Replace the appropriate component:
- {Right Side} M106V Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Variable
- {Left Side} M106VB Exhaust Control Valve 2 Actuator - Variable
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Verify DTC P3172, P3173, P3174, P317F, P3180, P3181 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Perform the following learn procedure: Variable Exhaust Flow Control Valve Learn @ K20 Engine Control Module
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off - For 2 min
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets - Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- All OK.
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- Verify DTC P3175, P3179, P317A, P3182 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Perform the scan tool control function: Variable Exhaust Flow Control Valve @ K20 Engine Control Module - Open/Close
Verify a click can be heard or felt at the following component (s) when the scan tool control function was commanded:
- {Right Side} M106V Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Variable
- {Left Side} M106VB Exhaust Control Valve 2 Actuator - Variable
- If a click cannot be heard or felt
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 1
- Go to next step: If a click can be heard or felt
- Perform the scan tool control function: Variable Exhaust Flow Control Valve @ K20 Engine Control Module - Close
Verify a condition does not exist with the component:
- {Right Side} M106V Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Variable - Turns Off
- {Left Side} M106VB Exhaust Control Valve 2 Actuator - Variable - Turns Off
- Perform the action while monitoring the component:
- {Right Side} Wiggle the harness and connector: M106V Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Variable
- {Left Side} Wiggle the harness and connector: M106VB Exhaust Control Valve 2 Actuator - Variable
- Wiggle the harness and connector: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
- If a condition exists
Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal (s) / Electrical Connector (s)
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Repeat the procedure starting at step 2
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
