Removal Procedure

  1. Inspect the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir.
  2. If the brake fluid level is higher than midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, remove brake fluid to the midway point before proceeding.
  3. If the brake fluid level is midway between the maximum-full point and the minimum allowable level, no brake fluid needs to be removed before proceeding.
  4. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  5. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  6. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Retainer (1) - Disengage [2x]

    Retainer (3) - Disengage [3x]

  9. Reposition the wheelhouse liner as necessary.
  10. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

    Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) - Remove

    Front Brake Caliper Guide Pin (1) - Remove [2x]

  14. Front Brake Caliper Spring (2) - Remove

    Front Brake Caliper Bracket Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

  16. CAUTION:

    Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

  17. Remove the brake caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire. (1)

    Front Disc Brake Inner Pad (1) - Remove

  19. Front Disc Brake Outer Pad (2) - Remove
