Circuit/System Verification
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve = Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve = Camshaft Oil Control Spool Valve
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC P0335, P0336, P0340, P0341 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- The engine oil level and the oil pressure are critical to the correct operation of the system.
- Engine oil condition has a major impact on the camshaft actuator system.
- Verify the following conditions do not exist:
- Engine Oil - Contaminated/Dirty/Fill Level = Low
- Engine Oil Pressure - Low - Refer to: Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing
- If a condition exists
Repair as necessary
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
- Engine - Idling
- Perform the scan tool control function: Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Position - From 0 to 20° and back to 0°
Verify the scan tool parameter:
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- If not the specified state
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Perform the scan tool control function: Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Position - From 0 to 20° and back to 0°
Verify the scan tool parameter: Intake/Single Camshaft Position Variance = Less than 2° - During each of the commanded states
- If 2° or greater
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If less than 2°
- If 2° or greater
- Ignition - On/Vehicle - In Service Mode & Engine - Off
- Perform the scan tool control function: Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator - On
Verify the scan tool parameter:
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- Intake/Single Camshaft Position Actuator Control Circuit Open Test Status = Not Run or Okay
- Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
- Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module
- Wiggle the harness and connector: Q6 Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve
- If not the specified state
Repair as necessary - Wiring/Terminal(s)/Electrical Connector(s)
- Go to next step: If the specified state
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
NOTE:
This diagnostic procedure will reference the component code called out in the schematic, if applicable. The following are the same components, even though they are named differently:
NOTE:
If a crankshaft or camshaft position sensor DTC is set, the scan tool camshaft position actuator output control will be disabled.
NOTE:
