Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LT4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LT4 GE 47716)
- Drain the charge air cooling system. Charge Air Cooling System Draining and Filling (LT4)
Supercharger Belt Tensioner Bracket (3) - Remove - Supercharger Belt Tensioner Bracket Replacement
- Remove the compressor air intake supercharger. Compressor Air Intake Supercharger and Gasket Replacement
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly-Bank 1 - Remove - Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 1
- Remove the valve rocker arms and push rods. Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement
Exhaust Manifold (1) - Remove - Exhaust Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LT4)
Engine Wiring Harness Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Engine Wiring Harness (2) - Reposition [2x]
- CAUTION:
After removal, place the cylinder head on 2 wood blocks in order to prevent damage to the sealing surfaces.
Cylinder Head Bolt - M12 x 102 (1) - Remove and DISCARD
- Cylinder Head Bolt - M12 x 134 (2) - Remove and DISCARD [9x]
- Cylinder Head (3) - Remove
- Cylinder Head Gasket (4) - Remove and DISCARD
- Clean, inspect and overhaul the cylinder head as needed. Cylinder Head Overhaul
