Hands Free Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The sensors are located behind the lower rear fascia (Refer to owner's manual for kick sensor location) and is designed to detect the motion of the operator's foot by way of a kicking motion. When the keyless entry transmitter is within 3 feet (1 meter) of the trunk and the operator kick his or her foot under the rear fascia, the sensors will detect the motion of the foot and the lower leg and send a serial data message to the body control module to command the trunk to release.
