Installation Procedure
Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear (3) - Install
- Steering Gear Bolt (2) - Install NEW [2x]
- Steering Gear Nut (1) - Install and hand tighten [2x]
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Install - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LSY) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LGY)
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Steering Gear Bolt (1) - Tighten [2x]
- First Pass: 100 N.m (74 lb ft)
- Final Pass: (90 - 100 degrees)
Engine Wiring Harness (1) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install
- Secure the engine wiring harness to the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear using a tie strap.
Intermediate Steering Shaft (2) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD)
Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod (1) @ Steering Knuckle - Install [2x] - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (without Blackwing)
- Front Compartment Air Deflector (1) - Remove - Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (AWD)
- Program the power steering control module. Control Module References
- Measure and adjust the front toe. Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment
- Perform the following so the vehicle software relearns the steering center position:
- Raise the front wheels off the ground.
- Start the engine.
- Rotate steering wheel to the left lock position and hold tightly for 4 seconds.
- Rotate steering wheel to the right lock position and hold tightly for 4 seconds.
- Repeat steps 13.3 and 13.4.
- Lower the vehicle.
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
