Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Place the powertrain and frame assembly on the GE-52200  Propulsion System Lift Table or a suitable support table.

    Engine Mount Nut-Left Side (1) - Install - Engine Mount Replacement - Left Side

    Engine Mount Nut - Right Side (1) - Install - Engine Mount Replacement - Right Side 

  4. Install front wheel drive shafts. [2x] Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side
  5. Secure knuckles to sway bar to keep axles in place.
  6. Install the transmission to the engine assembly. Transmission Replacement (AWD) , or Transmission Replacement (RWD)
  7. Secure the powertrain to the table using straps and binders or chains.
  8. Ensure when raising the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle assembly, the following are clear from the frame:
    • Vacuum lines
    • Steering knuckles
    • Electrical wiring harnesses
    • Oil cooler lines
  9. With the aid of an assistant, carefully raise the engine, transmission and front suspension cradle assembly.

    Transmission Mount Bracket Bolt (1) - Install [4x] - Transmission Mount Replacement (RWD) , or Transmission Mount Replacement (AWD)

    Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Front Bolt (2) - Install [4x] - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (RWD LSY) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LSY)

  12. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Rear Bolt (1) - Install [2x] - Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (RWD LSY) , or Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LSY)

    Connect the steering gear electrical connectors. (1)

    Electronic Transmission Range Selector Manual Park Release Cable (2) @ Transmission - Install - Electronic Transmission Range Selector Manual Park Release Cable Replacement

  15. Propeller Shaft - Install - Propeller Shaft Replacement (without LT4) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD)

    Front Brake Caliper Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [2x] - Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J56) , or Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) , or Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J57) , or Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J6H)

    CAUTION:

    Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

    Steering Knuckle Bolt (2) - Install [2x]

  18. Steering Knuckle Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Strut Assembly Removal and Installation (FE2, FE3, without F55) , or Strut Assembly Removal and Installation (FE3, FE4, with F55)
  19. Connect the front stabilizer links from the front stabilizer shaft. Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (FE2) , or Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (FE3, FE4)
  20. Radiator Upper Bracket - Install - Radiator Upper Bracket Replacement - Left Side (LGY, LSY)
  21. Front Bumper Fascia Support Brace - Install - Front Bumper Fascia Support Brace Replacement (Without Radar) , or Front Bumper Fascia Support Brace Replacement (With Radar)
  22. Front Compartment Air Deflector - Install - Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (AWD) , or Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (RWD)
  23. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector - Install - Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Replacement

    Reposition the engine wiring harness.

  25. Install the engine wiring harness ground wire (2) to the front end upper tie bar extension.
  26. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  27. Engine Wiring Harness Ground Bolt (1) - Install and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Retainer (2) - Install [4x]

  29. Engine Wiring Harness Connector (1) - Connect
  30. Transmission Control Module Wiring Harness - Install - Transmission Control Module Replacement
  31. Engine Control Module Electrical Connector - Connect - Engine Control Module Replacement

    Engine Wiring Harness Ground Bolt (1) - Install and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in)

    Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (3) - Install - Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Replacement 

  35. Evaporative Emission Pipe - Connect - Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement

    Fuel Feed Pipe (1) - Connect - Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement

  37. Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD) , or Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (RWD)
  38. Heater Outlet Hose - Install - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  39. Heater Inlet Hose - Install - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  40. Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose - Install - Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY Radiator Surge Tank to Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe and Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Pipe) , or Radiator Surge Tank Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Pipe to Radiator)

    Catalytic Converter Gasket (1) - Install NEW

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 50 N.m (37 lb ft)

    Air Conditioning Evaporative Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose (2) @ Air Conditioning Refrigerant Heat Exchanger - Install - Air Conditioning Evaporative Connector Hose/Tube and Compressor Hose Replacement (LSY)

  44. Radiator Inlet Hose - Install - Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement (LSY)
  45. Radiator Outlet Hose @ Water Pump - Connect - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LSY)

    Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) - Install - Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube Replacement

    Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube (2) - Install - Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Tube Replacement

  48. Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Install - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
  49. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  50. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
  51. Recharge the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
  52. NOTE:

    Prelube is necessary if the engine is replaced or overhauled.

  53. If the engine is replaced with a new engine or has been overhauled, perform the Engine Prelubing procedure. Engine Prelubing
  54. Remove the straps or binders used to secure the vehicle body to the vehicle hoist.
  55. Perform the crankshaft position variation learn procedure. Crankshaft Position Variation Learn
  56. Perform the throttle learn procedure. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
