Circuit/System Testing

Windshield Wiper Switch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the connector at the S82 Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between the low reference circuit terminal 1 and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Test circuit 6009 for an open/high resistance.
- If open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If open/high resistance is not found
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition ON.
- Verify the scan tool Windshield Wiper Switch parameter is not High.
- If High
- Test circuit 1715 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module
- Go to next step: If not High
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 2 and the low reference circuit terminal 1.
- Verify the scan tool Windshield Wiper Switch parameter is High.
- If not High
- Test circuit 1715 for a short to voltage.
- If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
- Test circuit 1715 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the K219 Lighting Control Module.
- Go to next step: If High
- Test for 4.8 - 5.2 V between the signal circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If less than 4.8 V
- Test circuit 1714 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Test circuit 1714 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- If greater than 5.2 V
- Test circuit 1714 for a short to voltage.
- If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found.
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
- Go to next step: If 4.8 - 5.2 V
- Test or replace the S82 Windshield Wiper/Washer Switch.
Windshield Wiper Motor Malfunction
- Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF, disconnect the KR12B Windshield Wiper Motor Relay. Ignition ON.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between control circuit terminal 85 and ground circuit terminal 86.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Test circuit 750 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Test circuit 91 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Test circuit 91 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the K219 Lighting Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between terminal 30 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate

- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Ignition OFF, connect the KR12B Windshield Wiper Motor Relay. Disconnect the connector at the M75 Windshield Wiper Motor.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 1 and B+.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 750 or ground connection.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Ignition ON.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between control circuit terminal 4 and ground.
- If the test lamp does not illuminate
- Test circuit 4947 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Test circuit 4947 for an open/high resistance.
- If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
- Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
- Replace the KR12B Windshield Wiper Motor Relay.
- Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates
- Replace the M75 Windshield Wiper Motor.
