Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
- Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
- Inspect all terminals for damage or corrosion when disconnecting connectors. Damage or corrosion in the following requires repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.
- S40 Instrument Panel Airbag Disable Switch
- K36 Restraints Control Module
- S40 Instrument Panel Airbag Disable Switch wiring harness connector
- K36 Restraints Control Module wiring harness connector
- The connector and connector position assurance (CPA) may seat independent of each other. Both the connector and CPA should seat with an audible and/or tactile click.
- Ignition OFF. It may take up to 2 minutes for all vehicle systems to power down.
- Verify the SIR system is disabled.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the S40 Instrument Panel Airbag Disable Switch.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If 10 Ω or greater
- Ignition OFF.
- Verify the SIR system is disabled.
- Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the low reference circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition ON, Vehicle in service mode.
- Test for 1 - 9 V between the signal circuit terminal 1 and ground.
- If less than 1 V
- Ignition OFF.
- Verify the SIR system is disabled.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the signal circuit and ground.
- If less than infinite resistance, repair the short to ground on the circuit.
- Test for less than 2 Ω in the signal circuit end to end.
- If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
- If less than 2 Ω, replace the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- If greater than 9 V
- Ignition OFF.
- Verify the SIR system is disabled.
- Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Ignition ON, Vehicle in service mode.
- Test for less than 1 V between the signal circuit and ground.
- If 1 V or greater repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
- If less than 1 V, replace the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Go to next step: If between 1 - 9 V
- Replace the S40 Instrument Panel Airbag Disable Switch.
- Ignition ON, clear DTCs. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
- Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Replace the K36 Restraints Control Module.
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
