Installation Procedure
Install the differential carrier assembly (1) to the rear suspension cradle (2).
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Install and tighten the two differential carrier front bolts (1) and nuts (2). Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement , or Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement (G96)
- CAUTION:
Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .
Install the NEW differential carrier rear bolt and washer (1) and tighten. Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement , or Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement (G96)
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Install the following components on the left and right sides as assemblies (1) :
- Rear Suspension Knuckle
- Rear Suspension Lower Trailing Link
- Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm
- Rear Suspension Adjust Link
- Rear Brake Rotor
- Rear Wheel Drive Shaft
- NOTE:
The rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (1) and washers (2) are serviced as a rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer kit consisting of 2 bolts and 1 washer.
If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
- Install 3 NEW left side wheel drive shaft flange washers (2).
- Install and tighten the 6 NEW left side rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainers in a crisscross pattern. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Left Side (without LT4)
- NOTE:
The rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer (1) and washers (2) are serviced as a rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainer kit consisting of 2 bolts and 1 washer.

- Install 3 NEW right side wheel drive shaft flange washers (2).
- Install and tighten the 6 NEW right side rear wheel drive shaft universal joint retainers in a crisscross pattern. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement - Right Side (without LT4)
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm - Left Side and Right Side (3) - Reposition [2x]
- Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm Inner Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install NEW [2x]
- Rear Suspension Upper Control Arm Inner Nut - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [2x]
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Rear Suspension Lower Trailing Link - Left Side and Right Side (3) - Reposition [2x]
- Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install NEW [2x]
- Rear Suspension Trailing Arm Nut - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Rear Suspension Lower Trailing Link Replacement
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Rear Suspension Adjust Link - Left Side and Right Side (4) - Reposition [2x]
- Rear Suspension Adjust Link Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install NEW [2x]
- Rear Suspension Adjust Link Washer - Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]
- Rear Suspension Link Inner Nut - Left Side and Right Side (3) - Install and hand tighten [2x]
Install the rear stabilizer shaft (1) with the rear stabilizer shaft links attached.
Rear Stabilizer Shaft Clamp (3) - Install [2x]
- Rear Stabilizer Shaft Clamp Bolt (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Stabilizer Shaft Replacement
- Rear Stabilizer Shaft Clamp Stud (1) - Install and tighten
- Rear Stabilizer Shaft Link Bolt (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement , or Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
Rear Suspension Cradle (1) - Install - Rear Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (Non Blackwing)
The final torque on the rear suspension link inner nut (3) is to be applied during the rear toe setting procedure.
