Draining Procedure
Intake Manifold Cover (1) - Remove - Intake Manifold Cover Replacement
Charge Air Cooler Coolant Filler Cap (1) - Remove
- Place an absorbent shop cloth around the turbocharger coolant feed pipe fitting to capture any coolant loss.
Install the GE-47716-30A Vac-N-Fill Adapter (1) to the turbocharger coolant feed pipe fitting (2) to allow the system to vent.
- Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
Remove the auxiliary radiator outlet hose (2) from the left side charge air cooler and rotate downward allowing the engine radiator (intercooler heat exchanger) to drain. Auxiliary Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LT4)
Charge Air Cooler- Left Side (1) - Remove - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Left Side (LT4)
- Invert the left side charge air cooler (1) and allow the remaining coolant to drain into the drain pan.
- Charge Air Cooler- Left Side (1) - Install - Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Left Side (LT4)
Auxiliary Radiator Outlet Hose (2) @Charge Air Cooler- Left Side - Install - Auxiliary Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LT4)
To avoid being burned, do not remove the radiator cap or surge tank cap while the engine is hot. The cooling system will release scalding fluid and steam under pressure if radiator cap or surge tank cap is removed while the engine and radiator are still hot.
Make sure the charge air cooling system is cool and that the pump is not activated.
