Installation Procedure

Position the intermediate steering shaft (1) in the vehicle.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install
Prepare the intermediate steering shaft lower bolt (1) at the electric belt drive rack and pinion steering gear for installation as follows:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the component. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt (1) @ Electric Belt Drive Rack and Pinion Steering Gear - Install and tighten to 57 N.m (42 lb ft)
Mid Lower Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) @ Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install
- Mid Lower Intermediate Steering Shaft Bolt (2) @ Intermediate Steering Shaft - Install - Mid Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD)
- Remove the device preventing the steering column from rotating.
