Removal Procedure

Following the deployment of a side impact air bag, inspect the following parts for damage. Replace these parts if necessary:
- The seat cushion frame
- The seat recliner, if equipped
- The seat adjuster
- The seat back frame
Failure to do so may cause future personal injury.
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Radiator Air Upper Baffle Retainer (1) - Remove [5x]
- Radiator Air Upper Baffle Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
- Radiator Air Upper Baffle- Upper (3) - Remove
- NOTE:
Left side shown, right side similar.
Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Bolt (1) - Remove [6x]
- Front Suspension Strut Upper Mounting Nut (2) - Remove [4x]
- Release the engine wire harness retainers from the front end sheet metal cross brace.
- Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace (3) - Remove [2x]
Radiator Upper Bracket Bolt- Left Side (1) - Remove [2x]
- Radiator Upper Bracket- Left Side (2) - Remove
Wiring Harness Retainer (1)-Right Side - Remove
- Radiator Upper Bracket Bolt-Right Side (2) - Remove [2x]
- Radiator Upper Bracket-Right Side (3) - Remove
- NOTE:
- Integral sensor assembly bolt uses Left Hand threads. Use counterclockwise rotation to loosen fastener at TORX® tip end. If accessing at pan head end of the fastener, use clockwise rotation to loosen bolt.
- The bolts are integral to the sensor, DO NOT remove separately.
Loosen the fastener and slide the sensor out of the keyhole slot.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Airbag Front End Discriminating Sensor (1) - Remove [2x]
