Circuit/System Verification

- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Verify DTC P12EC, P12ED is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
Replace the component: M106C Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Cylinder Deactivation-Left Side
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Verify DTC P12E9, P12EA, P12F1 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Perform the following learn procedure: Cylinder Deactivation Exhaust Control Valve Learn @ K20 Engine Control Module
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems - Off - For 2 min
- Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets - Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2
- Go to next step: If the DTC does not set
- All OK.
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- Verify DTC P12EF, P12F0, P12F2 is not set.
- If any of the DTCs are set
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 2
- Go to next step: If none of the DTCs are set
- If any of the DTCs are set
- Perform the following learn procedure: Cylinder Deactivation Exhaust Control Valve Learn @ K20 Engine Control Module
Verify a click can be heard or felt at the following component(s) when the scan tool control function was commanded: M106C Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Cylinder Deactivation-Left Side
- If a click cannot be heard or felt
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing - Test 1
- Go to next step: If a click can be heard or felt
- If a click cannot be heard or felt
- Perform the following learn procedure: Cylinder Deactivation Exhaust Control Valve Learn @ K20 Engine Control Module
Verify a condition does not exist with the component: M106C Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Cylinder Deactivation-Left Side - Turns Off
- Perform the action while monitoring the component:
- Wiggle the harness and connector: M106C Exhaust Control Valve Actuator - Cylinder Deactivation-Left Side
- Wiggle the harness and connector: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
- If a condition exists
Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal(s) / Electrical Connector(s)
- Go to next step: If no condition exists
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.
- If the DTC sets
Repeat the procedure starting at step 2
- Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
- If the DTC sets
- All OK.
