Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
    NOTE:

Whenever the brake rotor has been separated from the hub/axle flange, any rust or contaminates should be cleaned from the hub/axle flange and the brake rotor mating surfaces. Failure to do this may result in excessive assembled lateral runout (LRO) of the brake rotor, which could lead to brake pulsation.

  1. If reinstalling the brake rotor, clean any corrosion and debris from the wheel hub mating surface of the brake rotor using the CH-41013  Rotor Resurfacing Kit.
  2. NOTE:

Do not clean the friction surfaces of the brake rotor with chemical brake cleaners.

  3. Clean the friction surfaces of the brake rotor with soap and water or denatured alcohol and allow to air dry.
  4. NOTE:

Do not pry against the cross-drilled holes in the brake rotor to remove loose material and debris.

  5. If necessary, carefully remove any loose material and debris from the cross-drilled holes in the brake rotor with a 5 mm (3/16 in) diameter tool.
  6. Using the CH-42450-A  Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit, clean any corrosion and debris from the rotor mating surface of the wheel hub.

  13. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
    1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
    2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
    3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air.
    4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    1. Select a smooth road with little or no traffic.
    2. Accelerate the vehicle to 48 km/h (30 mph).
    3. NOTE:

Use care to avoid overheating the brakes while performing this step.

    4. Using moderate to firm pressure, apply the brakes to bring the vehicle to a stop. Do not allow the brakes to lock.
    5. Repeat steps 18.2 and 18.3 until approximately 20 stops have been completed. Allow sufficient cooling periods between stops in order to properly burnish the brake pads and rotors.
