Installation Procedure

    Front Disc Brake Pad Retaining Spring (1) - Install NEW [4x]

    Front Disc Brake Inner Pad (1) - Install

    Front Brake Caliper Bracket (2) - Install - Front Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JL9) 

  5. NOTE:

    Compressing the phenolic piston in the center is important to prevent piston damage.

  6. Place a block of wood or old brake pad into the caliper body in installed position in front of the caliper piston.
  7. Place a large C-clamp over the brake caliper body and against the block of wood or brake pad.
  8. Using the C-clamp, carefully compress the brake caliper piston fully into the brake caliper bore.
  9. Remove the block of wood or old brake pad from the caliper.

    Front Brake Caliper Guide Pin Bolt (1) - Install [2x] - Front Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9)

    {If equipped} Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (2) - Install - Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor Replacement (J57, J6H) 

  13. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57)
  14. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  15. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  16. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  17. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 10 - 11 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  18. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
  19. Burnish the brake pads and rotors. Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing
