Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Drain the rear differential carrier assembly. Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement
- Propeller Shaft - Remove - Propeller Shaft Replacement (without LT4) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MJK) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MHX) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD)
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe (1) - Remove - Differential Oil Cooler Inlet Hose Replacement
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Remove - Differential Oil Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement
- Separate both rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly.
- Support the differential carrier assembly with a suitable hydraulic jack stand.
- Disconnect electrical connector at differential.
Remove the differential carrier rear bolt and washer (1) and DISCARD.
Remove the two differential carrier rear bolts (1) and nuts (2).
Remove the differential carrier assembly (1).
NOTE:
It is not necessary to completely remove the wheel drive axles from the vehicle. Only separate the rear wheel drive shafts from the differential carrier assembly and not from the wheel bearing and hub assembly.
