Installation Procedure

Raise the differential carrier assembly (1) into position.
- CAUTION:
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
CAUTION:Refer to Fastener Caution .
Install the NEW differential carrier rear bolt (1) and tighten to:
- First Pass: 220 N.m (162 lb ft)
- Final Pass: Plus 60 degrees
Install the two differential carrier rear bolts (1) and differential carrier nuts (2) and tighten to:
- First Pass: 50 N.m (37 lb ft)
- Final Pass: Plus 90 degrees
- Connect electrical connector at differential.
- Install both rear wheel drive shafts to the differential carrier assembly.
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe (1) - Install - Differential Oil Cooler Inlet Hose Replacement
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe - Install - Differential Oil Cooler Outlet Hose Replacement
- Propeller Shaft - Install - Propeller Shaft Replacement (without LT4) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MJK) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (with LT4, MHX) , or Propeller Shaft Replacement (AWD)
- Fill the differential with the proper fluid. Rear Axle Lubricant Replacement
- Lower the vehicle.
