Removal Procedure

- Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Drain the differential assembly. Front Axle Lubricant Replacement
- Lower the drivetrain and front suspension frame assembly. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Removal and Installation (AWD LGY)
- Remove the Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter. Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter Replacement
- Remove the front propeller shaft from the differential and position out of the way. Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (LGY)
- Remove the left side engine mount bracket. Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Left Side (AWD)
- Remove the left front wheel drive shaft. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Left Side
- Remove the right front wheel drive shaft. Front Wheel Drive Half Shaft Replacement - Right Side
- Remove the front wheel drive intermediate shaft housing. Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Housing Replacement
- Using the engine support fixture, carefully lower the engine assembly enough to allow the front differential carrier assembly to be removed through the right wheel opening.
Release the vent hose clips (1).
Position a transmission jack beneath the front differential carrier.
- Firmly secure the front differential carrier to the transmission jack.
- Front Differential Carrier Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

- Reposition the transmission cooler lines to aid with removal of the front differential carrier assembly. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LGY, AWD)
- Remove the intermediate wheel drive shaft and the front differential carrier assembly from the oil pan.
NOTE:
The intermediate wheel drive shaft and the front differential carrier are to be removed as an assembly.
