Installation Procedure

- NOTE:
Some components not shown for graphic clarity.
Install a NEW brake pedal retainer (1) to the brake pedal.
- Ensure the locking tabs on the brake pedal retainer are fully engaged in the brake pedal.
- Lubricate the brake master cylinder reservoir grommets with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Grommet (1) - Install NEW [3x]
Secure the rear of the brake master cylinder reservoir (1) to the brake master cylinder and lower the front until it is fully installed.
- Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (without MJK)
Brake Master Cylinder (1) - Install
Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
Engage the brake pedal (1) to the brake master cylinder push rod by pushing inwards.
- Ensure the brake pedal retainer is secured by lightly pulling rearward on the brake pedal (1).
- Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator - Install - Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement - Left Side
Remove the plugs from the brake master cylinder ports and the brake pipes.
- Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Pipe Replacement
Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake System Control Module - Connect
Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Sensor - Connect
- Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace - Install - Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement (Impact Bar Bracket) , or Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement (Plenum without Blackwing) , or Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement (Plenum with Blackwing)
- Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
- Perform the necessary programming and setup procedure: Control Module References
- Bleed the brake system. Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J57, J6H, JL9) , or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J56)
- Check the brake system for leaks.
- Check for brake system leaks.
