Installation Procedure

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Install a NEW brake pedal retainer (1) to the brake pedal.

  2. Ensure the locking tabs on the brake pedal retainer are fully engaged in the brake pedal.
  3. Lubricate the brake master cylinder reservoir grommets with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

    Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Grommet (1) - Install NEW [3x]

    Secure the rear of the brake master cylinder reservoir (1) to the brake master cylinder and lower the front until it is fully installed.

  6. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  7. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Bolt (2) - Install and tighten - Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement (with MJK)

    Brake Master Cylinder (1) - Install

    Brake Master Cylinder Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

    Engage the brake pedal (1) to the brake master cylinder push rod by pushing inwards.

  11. Ensure the brake pedal retainer is secured by lightly pulling rearward on the brake pedal (1).

    Remove the caps from the 4 brake front pipe inlets.

  14. Front Brake Pipe Nut (2) - Install and tighten [2x] 18 N.m (13 lb ft)
  15. Rear Brake Pipe Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] 18 N.m (13 lb ft)

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake System Control Module - Connect

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Sensor - Connect

    Remove the cap or plug from the exposed hose and clutch master cylinder fittings.

  19. Install the clutch master cylinder reservoir hose (1) to the master cylinder reservoir.
  20. Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace - Install - Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement (Impact Bar Bracket) , or Front End Sheet Metal Cross Brace Replacement (Plenum with Blackwing)
  21. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  22. Perform the necessary programming and setup procedure: Control Module References
  23. Bleed the brake system. Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J57, J6H, JL9) , or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (J56) 
  24. Check the brake system for leaks.
  25. Check for brake system leaks.
