Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging

    Air Cleaner Assembly (1) - Remove - Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement

    Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose Clamp (1) - Remove - Hose Clamp Replacement Guidelines - Spring Type

  5. Charge Air Bypass Valve Hose (2) - Remove
  6. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (3) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  7. Retaining Clip (4) - Remove

    Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube (1) - Disconnect - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  9. Air Cleaner Outlet Resonator-Left Side (2) - Remove

    Turbocharger Air Inlet Adapter (2) - Remove - Turbocharger Air Inlet Adapter Replacement - Bank 2

    Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Bolt (1) - Remove

    Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose (1) - Remove

  13. Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Remove wire harness retainer from top of stud.

  15. Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Nut (1) - Remove

    Air Conditioning Compressor Hose (1) - Remove

  17. Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  18. Raise and support the vehicle. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (with J57)
  19. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (without J57) , or Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (with J57)

    Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove - Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement (AWD) , or Engine Front Splash Shield Replacement (RWD)

    Air Conditioning Compressor Nut (1) - Remove

    Accessory Drive Primary Belt (1) @ Air Conditioning Compressor - Remove - Accessory Drive Primary Belt Replacement

    Intermediate Steering Shaft (1) - Reposition away - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD) , or Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (RWD)

    Radiator Outlet Pipe (1) - Reposition away

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Air Conditioning Compressor Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  26. Remove wire harness retainer from air conditioning compressor.
  27. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  28. Air Conditioning Compressor (2) - Remove
  29. Inspect openings of air conditioning compressor ports and pipes leading to compressor for presences of metal particles. Determine next steps based on inspection. Air Conditioning Compressor Oil Diagnosis
