Special Tools

    3rd Gear Bearing (1) - Install

  2. 3rd Gear Bearing Spacer (2) - Install
  3. 3rd Gear (3) - Install
  4. 3rd Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (4) - Install
  5. 3rd Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (5) - Install
    6. NOTE:

    Ensure the tabs on the blocking ring align with the corresponding pockets in the synchronizer hub. Click video link above for reference.

  6. 3rd Gear Blocking Ring (6) - Install
  7. Using the J-36183  Press Tube (9) and J-36184  Press Tube Adapter (10), install the 3rd and 4th synchronizer (7).
    1. Check the 3rd and 4th synchronizer scribe marks for correct position.
    2. The scribe "4.T.H." must face the input shaft.
    3. Start the hydraulic press operation.
    4. STOP pressing before the keys engage the blocking ring slots.
    5. Lift and rotate the 3rd speed gear in order to engage the keys with the blocking ring.
    6. Continue pressing until the synchronizer is seated.

    2nd Gear Bearing (1) - Install

  10. 2nd Gear Bearing Spacer (2) - Install
  11. 2nd Gear (3) - Install
  12. 2nd Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (4) - Install
  13. 2nd Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (5) - Install
    14. NOTE:

    Ensure the tabs on the blocking ring align with the corresponding pockets in the synchronizer hub. Click video link above for reference.

  15. 2nd Gear Blocking Ring (6) - Install
    16. NOTE:
    • Check the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizer (7) scribe marks for correct position.
    • The scribe "2.N.D." must face 2nd speed gear.
  16. Using the J-39371  1st and 2nd Synchronizer Installer, install the 1st and 2nd synchronizer (7).
    1. Start the hydraulic press operation.
    2. STOP pressing before the keys engage the blocking ring slots.
    3. Lift and rotate the 2nd speed gear in order to engage the keys with the blocking ring.
    4. Continue pressing until the synchronizer (7) is seated.

    1st and 2nd Gear Synchronizer Retaining Ring (1) - Install

    18. NOTE:

    Ensure the tabs on the blocking ring align with the corresponding pockets in the synchronizer hub. Click video link above for reference.

  18. 1st Gear Blocking Ring (2) - Install
  19. 1st Gear Synchronizer Outer Cone (3) - Install
  20. 1st Gear Synchronizer Inner Cone (4) - Install
  21. 1st Gear Thrust Washer (5) - Install
  22. 1st Gear Bearing (6) - Install
  23. 1st Gear (7) - Install

    Using the J-39441  5th and 6th Driven Gear Installer (3) and J-39441 - 20  5th Gear Installer Adapter (4), install the main shaft bearing (1).

  25. Using the J-39441  5th and 6th Driven Gear Installer (3) and J-39441 - 10  5th Gear Installer Adapter (5), install the 6th gear (2).

    Using the J-44735  Installation Tube (2), install the input shaft bearing (1).

    Main Shaft Bearing (3) - Install

    28. NOTE:

    Ensure the part is assembled concentric to the centerline of the input shaft.

  28. Main Shaft Front Bearing (2) - Install
    29. NOTE:

    Ensure the part is assembled concentric to the centerline of the input shaft.

  29. Main Shaft Front Bearing Roller Thrust Washer (1) - Install
