Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X5 connector at the K219 Lighting Control Module.
  2. Verify the courtesy lamps are not illuminated:
    • A24D Door Handle Assembly - Driver Exterior
    • A24LR Door Handle Assembly - Left Rear Exterior
    • A24RR Door Handle Assembly - Right Rear Exterior
    • A24P Door Handle Assembly - Passenger Exterior
    • If the courtesy lamps are illuminated 

      Repair the short to voltage on circuit 4733.

    • Go to next step: If the courtesy lamps are not illuminated 
  3. Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between B+ and terminal 1 at the X5 connector.
  4. Verify the courtesy lamps are not illuminated:
    • A24D Door Handle Assembly - Driver Exterior
    • A24LR Door Handle Assembly - Left Rear Exterior
    • A24RR Door Handle Assembly - Right Rear Exterior
    • A24P Door Handle Assembly - Passenger Exterior
    • If the a courtesy lamp is not illuminated and the jumper fuse is OK 
    1. Test the appropriate ground circuit for an open/high resistance:
      • A24D Door Handle Assembly - Driver Exterior - 2150
      • A24LR Door Handle Assembly - Left Rear Exterior - 2350
      • A24RR Door Handle Assembly - Right Rear Exterior - 2450
      • A24P Door Handle Assembly - Passenger Exterior - 2250
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit or ground connection.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found.
    2. Test circuit 4733 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    3. Replace the appropriate courtesy lamp.
    • If a courtesy lamp is not illuminated and the jumper fuse is open 
    1. Test circuit 4733 for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Replace the appropriate courtesy lamp.
    • Go to next step: If the courtesy lamps are illuminated 
  5. Replace the K219 Lighting Control Module.
