NOTE:- The engine block lower structural extension surface must be free of contamination prior to applying the sealer.
- Install and align the oil pan to the block within 10 minutes after applying the sealer.
- The oil pan must be fastened to final torque specification within 15 minutes after applying the sealer.
- Ensure proper use of room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) sealant. Use of Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) and Anaerobic Sealant
- Clean all sealing surfaces.
- Spray Low LOC brake cleaner on the LCE sealing surface and wipe off with a clean shop towel. Avoid touching the surface after cleaning and air dry with shop air.
- Wipe the oil pan surface with the Adhesion Plastic Pan Primer Promoter Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers with a clean shop towel. Allow the cleaner to flash / evaporate. Wipe off the sealing surfaces with a lint free cloth. Do not touch the sealing surface after cleaning to avoid inducing containment debris to the bonding surface area.
Apply approximately a 4 mm (0.16 in) thick bead of sealant (1) to the lower oil pan. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
Install EN-52483 Guide Pin (1) in two locations to keep oil pan square.
- Lower Oil Pan (2) - Install
- Lower Oil Pan Bolt (3) - Install and tighten in sequence [18x] - Fastener Specifications
- Connect harness retainers to the lower oil pan as needed.
- CAUTION:
Do not allow the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring to come into contact with external magnetic fields or sharp metal objects. Do not drop the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring. Do not damage the rubberized encoder track. Failure to follow these precautions may cause damage to the component.
NOTE:Ensure that the flywheel locating pin (2) sits in the correct holes in the crankshaft and the crankshaft position sensor inner exciter ring.

- Crankshaft Position Sensor Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Clean the 8 flex plate bolt hole threads in the crankshaft.
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
- NOTE:
Check the flex plate for damage before installation.
Automatic Transmission Flex Plate (1) - Install
- Check that guide pin (2) is in the correct hole of the automatic transmission flex plate.
- Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Bolt (3) - Install NEW and hand tighten [8x]
- NOTE:
The timing pin is installed into the flexplate for engine timing procedures, it can be damaged if torque is applied to the flexplate with the timing pin engaged. The timing pin must be placed in the retracted position using the handle and twisting to locked position. The slide part to be installed to the flexplate when torque is applied to the flexplate or crankshaft balancer bolt.
