Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
Pull the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
- Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.
- Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Windshield Garnish Molding (1) - Remove [2x]
Open the sunshade support bolt access cover with an appropriate tool.
- Sunshade Support Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]
- Sunshade Support (2) - Remove [2x]
- CAUTION:
Do not exert downward force at the forward or rearward edge of the roof console assembly as irreversible damage will occur.
With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the left side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.
- With a flat-bladed trim tool, release the tab on the right side at the most rearward of the roof console (1) and pull down on console, then release the retaining clip in the middle of the console and pull down, then release the retaining clip at the most forward of the console and pull down the console.
Pull the roof console (1) rearward to remove the front roof console tab from the headliner.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) - Remove
Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.
- Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.
Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)
- Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.
- Roof Rail Assist Handle Bolt (1) - Remove [8x]
- Roof Rail Assist Handle (2) - Remove [4x]
- CAUTION:
Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.
Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) - Remove
- Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) - Remove
Pull the trim panel toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retainers on both sides of the vehicle.
- Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) - Reposition [2x]
Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) - Remove [2x]
- Sunshade Bolt (2) - Remove [4x]
- Sunshade (3) - Remove [2x]
- Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the retainer attaching the sunshade to the headlining trim panel.
Fold the rear seat back to the downward position.
- Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) - Remove [2x]
- Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]
Disengage the retainers, starting at the front and working rearward on both sides of the vehicle.
- Quarter Upper Trim Panel (1) - Reposition [2x]
- Open the sunroof sunshade.
Sunroof Air Deflector Cover- Left Side (1) - Remove
Sunroof Air Deflector Cover- Right Side (1) - Remove
Sunroof Window Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]
- Sunroof Window (2) - Remove
- Passenger Seat - Remove - Front Seat Removal and Installation , or Front Seat Removal and Installation (Blackwing)
- Place the driver seat in the fully reclined position.
Lower the headlining trim panel (1).
Disconnect the sunroof housing front drain hoses (1) from the front sunroof housing drain gutters.
Disconnect the sunroof housing rear drain hoses (1) from the rear sunroof housing drain gutters.
Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the 6 sunroof module bolts (1), leaving the side 2 centermost sunroof module bolts (2) installed.
Tilt the headlining trim panel (1).
With the aid of an assistant, remove the 2 remaining sunroof module bolts (1) and gently lower the sunroof housing (2).
With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the sunroof housing (1) and place on a clean prepared surface.
- Transfer components as necessary.
The Quarter Upper Trim Panel does not need to be fully removed from the vehicle.
