Circuit/System Testing

- Transmission in Park.
- Ignition Off, disconnect X3 connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
- Test for less than Infinite resistance between Terminal 20 and ground.
- If infinite Resistance
- Disconnect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
- Test signal circuit 5905 for open/high resistance.
- If open/high resistance is found repair the circuit
- Go to next step: If open/high resistance is not found
- Test the ground circuit 2851 for an open/high resistance.
- if open/high resistance is found repair the circuit.
- Go to next step: If open/high resistance is not found
- Replace the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
- Go to next step: If less than infinite resistance
- Set the Parking Brake.
- Place the shift lever in the Neutral Position.
- Disconnect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
- Test circuit 5905 for a short to ground.
- If a short to ground is found repair the circuit
- Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found.
- Place the shift lever in the Park Position.
- Connect the connector at the S3 Transmission Shift Lever.
- Ignition On, Run Mode.
- Test circuit 5905 for a short to Voltage.
- If a short to voltage is found repair the short.
- Go to next step: If a short to voltage is not found
- Replace the K9 Body Control Module.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to manually override the M7 Transmission Shift Lock Control Solenoid Actuator to perform the following steps.
