Installation Procedure
Install the EN-46106 Flywheel Holding Tool (1).
- NOTE:
The flywheel does not use a locating pins for alignment and will not initially seat against the crankshaft flange, but will be pulled onto the crankshaft by the engine flywheel bolts.
Flywheel (2) - Install
- Flywheel Bolt (1) - Install NEW and hand tighten [8x]
- Flywheel Bolt (2) - Tighten in sequence [8x] - Fastener Specifications
The splined portion of the driven plate protrudes out of the plate more on one side than the other. The side that protrudes out more is the transmission side. The arrow in the graphic indicates the front of the vehicle, or flywheel side of the driven plate.
- If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps:
- Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth.
- Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive.
- Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers
- Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.
Install the driven plate (3) to the flywheel.
- Install the clutch pressure plate (2) to the dowel pins on the flywheel.
Clutch Pressure Plate Bolt (1) - Install NEW and hand tighten [6x]
Ensure all three dowel pins (1) are visibly seated through the clutch cover dowel pin alignment holes as shown.
- Use a commercially available universal clutch alignment tool to align the clutch driven plate to the center of the engine crankshaft.
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Clutch Pressure Plate Bolt (1) - Tighten in sequence [6x] - Fastener Specifications
Remove the commercially available clutch alignment tool.
- Remove the EN-50792 Flywheel Holding Tool (1).
- Install the manual transmission to the vehicle. Manual Transmission Removal and Installation
- Perform the excessive clutch slip data reset. Excessive Clutch Slip Data Reset
This vehicle is equipped with torque-to-yield or single use fasteners. Install a NEW torque-to-yield or single use fastener when installing this component. Failure to replace the torque-to-yield or single use fastener could cause damage to the vehicle or component.
