Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
  2. GM5876046

    Engine Front Cover (1) - Remove - Engine Front Cover Removal and Installation

  3. Install the engine support fixture. Engine Support Fixture

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

    Turbocharger Heat Shield (1) - Remove

  6. GM5873832

    Retaining Clip (1) - Remove

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove

  8. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  9. Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe (3) - Remove

    NOTE:

    Some components not shown for graphic clarity.

    Using a suitable tool, remove the turbocharger oil feed pipe fitting clip (1).

  11. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Bolt (2) - Remove
  12. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Washer (3) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  13. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe (4) - Remove

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove

  15. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]
  16. Turbocharger Coolant Feed Pipe (3) @ Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger - Separate

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe (1) - Remove

  19. Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD [2x]

    Turbocharger Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  21. GM5880449

    Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger (1) - Remove

  22. Turbocharger Gasket (2) - Remove and DISCARD

    Cylinder Head Bolt (1) - Remove and DISCARD [8x]

  24. Cylinder Head Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  25. Cylinder Head - Right Side (3) - Remove

    Cylinder Head Gasket (1) - Remove and DISCARD

  27. GM3707163

    Remove the fuel injection fuel rail noise shield-lower (1).
