Installation Procedure

  1. GM2202036

    Ensure the cylinder head locating pins are securely mounted in the cylinder block deck face.

  2. Cylinder Head Gasket (1) - Install NEW

    Align the left cylinder head (3) with the deck face locating pins and install.

  4. Cylinder Head Bolt (1) - Install NEW and hand tighten [2x]
  5. Cylinder Head Bolt (2) - Install NEW and hand tighten [8x]
    6. CAUTION:

    Refer to Torque-to-Yield Fastener Caution .

  6. Cylinder Head Bolt (1, 2) - Tighten in sequence - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  8. Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger (1) - Remove

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    Turbocharger Bolt (1) - Install and tighten in sequence [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Coolant Feed Pipe (3) @ Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger - Install

  11. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) @ Compressor Air Intake Turbocharger - Install NEW [2x]
  12. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  14. Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe (1) - Install

    Turbocharger Oil Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe (3) - Install

  17. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Washer (2) - Install NEW
  18. Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Fitting Clip (2) - Install

  20. Positive Assurance Cap (1) - Install

    Turbocharger Heat Shield (1) - Install

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Exhaust Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  24. Warm Up Three-Way Catalytic Converter (1) - Install

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

  26. Connect the heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.[2x]

    Catalytic Converter Brace (2) - Install

  28. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten [5x] - Fastener Specifications

    Catalytic Converter Gasket (2) - Install NEW

  30. With the aid of an assistant, install the exhaust muffler (1).

    Exhaust Muffler Hanger Bracket Nut (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Electrical Connector (1) - Connect

    Exhaust Muffler (1) @ Exhaust Intermediate Pipe Insulator-Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

    Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) - Tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Catalytic Converter Nut (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Floor Panel Reinforcement (2) - Install

  39. Floor Panel Number 4 Cross Bar Reinforcement Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [6x] - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Right Side (5) - Install

  41. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  42. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Right Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  43. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Right Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  44. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Right Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Underbody Rear Air Deflector- Left Side (5) - Install

  46. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (2) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  47. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side (3) - Install and tighten [3x] - Fastener Specifications
  48. Underbody Rear Air Deflector Nut- Left Side (4) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  49. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt- Left Side (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Rear Tire Front Air Deflector- Left Side and Right Side (2) - Install [2x]

  51. Rear Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt- Left Side and Right Side (1) - Install and tighten [4x] - Fastener Specifications
  52. Lower the vehicle.

    Turbocharger Heat Shield Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications

    Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe (3) - Install

  55. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Gasket (2) - Install NEW [2x]
  56. Turbocharger Coolant Feed and Return Pipe Bolt (1) - Install and tighten - Fastener Specifications

    Retaining Clip (1) - Install

  58. GM5876046

    Engine Front Cover (1) - Install - Engine Front Cover Removal and Installation

  59. Lower the vehicle.
  60. Fill the engine oil to the proper level with NEW engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
