Cleaning and Inspection Procedure - Required
The following cleaning and inspection and/or overhaul steps are ONLY to be performed as determined necessary based on the condition of the part being removed with the intention of reinstallation. The labor time to perform any of these steps is not included in the base labor time and if required would need to be documented and submitted as Other Labor Hours for warranty claim reimbursement. A description of the repairs performed must be documented in the technician correction comments.
- Clean the oil pan with solvent.
- Dry the oil pan with compressed air.
Inspect the oil pan (4) for the following conditions:
- Oil leakage at the engine oil level indicator switch (6).
If damage is found, engine oil level indicator switch seal (6).
- Damage to the oil pan drain plug and oil pan drain plug seal (5).
If damage is found, oil pan drain plug and oil pan drain plug seal (5).
- Exterior dents or damage to oil pan (4).
If damage is found, replace the oil pan (4).
- Damage to the oil pump suction pipe (3).
If damage is found, replace the oil pump suction pipe (3).
- Remove and DISCARD the oil pump suction pipe seal (2).
Install the NEW oil pump suction pipe seal (2).
- Damage to the crankshaft oil deflector (1).
If damage is found, replace the crankshaft oil deflector (1).
- Oil leakage at the engine oil level indicator switch (6).
