Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil. Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (RWD) 
  2. GM5898220

    Lower Oil Pan Bolt (1) - Remove [20x]

    3. NOTE:

    Do not pry on the oil pan to lower crankcase extension as the sealing surface will become damaged.

  3. Locate the four threaded insert jack screw locations on the lower oil pan. Use four lower oil pan bolts in these locations, and tighten the bolts by hand 1 to 2 turn each in a uniform manner, rotating between bolts until the oil pan has full separation from the lower crankcase extension.
  4. Oil Pan (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  5. GM5517356

    Oil Pump Suction Pipe Bolt (1) - Remove

  6. Oil Pump Suction Pipe (2) - Remove
  7. Oil Pump Suction Pipe Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD
