WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Cadillac CT4. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Engine - Idling
  2. Verify there are no DTCs set related to the following component/system:
    • B338 Intake Camshaft Profile Sleeve Position Sensor
    • B339 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Sleeve Position Sensor
    • {Circuit DTCs} M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator
    • {Circuit DTCs} M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator
    • Go to next step: If a related DTC is not set
  3. Verify there is no abnormal noise from the component: Engine
    • Go to next step: If no abnormal noise is present
  4. NOTE:

This procedure uses generic scan tool control functions and parameter names. For detailed scan tool information, refer to: Diagnostic Aids

  5. Verify the appropriate scan tool parameter:
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Go to next step: If the specified state
  6. Verify the appropriate scan tool parameter: Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Position Sensor or Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Position Sensor = Greater than 68%
    • If 68% or less
    1. Ignition/Vehicle - Off
    2. NOTE:

For component location, refer to: Diagnostic Aids

    3. Remove the component: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator
    4. Verify a condition does not exist with the component: Actuator Pin @ M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator - Missing/Visible Damage
      • If a condition exists - Replace the component: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator & Inspect the following components for damage and repair or replace as necessary:
      • Camshaft
      • Camshaft profile control sleeve
      • If no condition exists - Replace the component: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator or M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator
    • Go to next step: If greater than 68%
  7. Ignition - On / Vehicle - In Service Mode
  8. Verify the scan tool parameter:
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit High Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator Control Circuit Low Test Status = Not Run or Okay
    • Perform the action while monitoring the parameter:
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: M129 Intake Camshaft Profile Actuator
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: M130 Exhaust Camshaft Profile Actuator
    • Wiggle the harness and connector: K20 Engine Control Module
    • If not the specified state

      Repair as necessary - Wiring / Terminal (s) / Electrical Connector (s)

    • Go to next step: If the specified state
  9. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Verify the DTC does not set.

    • If the DTC sets

Repeat the procedure starting at step 1

    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set
  10. All OK.
