Circuit/System Test

Symptom Byte 00, 49, or 62

  1. Ignition ON/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  2. Verify no other DTCs are set.
    • Go to next step: If no other DTCs are set 
  3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch.
  4. Test for less than 10 Ω between ground circuit terminal 4 and ground.
    • If 10 Ω or greater 

      Repair the fault on circuit 1351 or the ground connection

    • Go to next step: If less than 10 Ω 
  5. Ignition ON.
  6. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground.
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 
    1. Test circuit 4040 for an open/high resistance.
      • If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If an open/high resistance is not found
    2. Verify the fuse is good and there is voltage at the fuse. Refer to Power Mode Mismatch
    • If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 
    1. Test circuit 4040 for a short to ground.
      • If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit.
      • Go to next step: If a short to ground is not found
    2. Replace the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch.
    • Go to next step: If the test lamp illuminates 
  7. Reconnect the harness connector at the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch. Ignition ON.
  8. Program the K160 Brake System Control Module.
  9. Verify that the DTC does not set.
    • If the DTC sets 

      Replace the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch

    • Go to next step: If the DTC is not set 
  10. All OK.

Symptom Byte 71

  1. Ignition ON/Vehicle in Service Mode.
  2. Verify no other DTCs are set.
    • Go to next step: If no other DTCs are set 
  3. Ignition OFF.
  4. Disconnect the harness connector at the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch.
  5. Verify the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch and any related wiring harnesses and connectors are securely connected and do not exhibit any physical damage, or that no foreign object is pressing on the switch.
    • If any damage is noted 

      Repair as necessary.

    • Go to next step: If no damage is noted 

      Go to next step: Replace the S91 Parking Brake Control Switch.
