Cleaning and Inspection Procedure - Required

NOTE:
Do not soak or submerge the fuel pump in solvent.

Clean the fuel pump (2) and valve lifter follower (5).

WARNING:

Refer to Safety Glasses and Compressed Air Warning

Dry the fuel pump and valve lifter follower with compressed air.
Inspect the fuel pump for the following conditions:
1. Damage to the connection ports (1)
2. Damage to the electrical connector (2)
3. Damage to the sealing surface (3)
4. Damage to or a bent or binding plunger (7)
5. Damage to the mounting holes (8)
Inspect the valve lifter follower for the following conditions:
1. A scored or worn fuel pump contact surface (4)
2. A severely scuffed or worn body (5)
3. Binding or roughness of the roller (6)
If any of the above conditions exist, replace the fuel pump and/or the valve lifter follower.
