Removal Procedure

  1. Transmission - Remove - Transmission Replacement (Rear Wheel Drive) , or Transmission Replacement (All Wheel Drive)
  2. GM4968252

    EN-52476  Flywheel Holding Tool (1) - Install

  3. Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Bolt (2) - Loosen [8x]
  4. EN-52476  Flywheel Holding Tool (1) - Remove
  5. GM4968275

    Automatic Transmission Flex Plate Bolt (2) - Remove and DISCARD [8x]

  6. Automatic Transmission Flex Plate (1) - Remove
  7. GM5319643

    Disconnect the electrical connector.

  8. Crankshaft Position Sensor Bolt (1) - Remove
  9. Crankshaft Position Sensor (2) - Remove

    CAUTION:

    Do not allow the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring to come into contact with external magnetic fields or sharp metal objects. Do not drop the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring. Do not damage the rubberized encoder track. Failure to follow these precautions may cause damage to the component.

    Crankshaft Position Sensor Inner Exciter Ring (1) - Remove

  11. Flywheel Locating Pin (2) - Remove
  12. GM5116895

    Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing Bolt (1) - Remove [13x]

    13. NOTE:

    It is likely you will bend the housing during removal. Use care to not damage the engine block.

  13. Loosen the crankshaft rear oil seal housing carefully from the engine block, use a suitable tool to pry all the way around.
  14. Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Housing (2) - Remove and DISCARD
