Installation Procedure

  1. GM5892078

    Verify the timing components are correctly aligned for stage 1. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram .

  2. If not in stage 1 position use the EN-48589  Crankshaft Rotation Socket (1) rotate the crankshaft and crankshaft sprocket to stage 1 alignment position.
  3. GM5882860

    Timing Chain Tensioner Gasket (3) - Install NEW

  4. Timing Chain Tensioner (2) - Install
    5. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  5. Timing Chain Tensioner Bolt (1) - Install and tighten [2x] - Fastener Specifications
  6. GM5890275

    Remove the EN-46112  Tensioner Retraction Pin (2) to release timing chain tensioner plunger (1).

  7. GM5882957

    Remove the EN-48383 - 1  Camshaft Retaining Tool (1).

  8. GM5876046

    Engine Front Cover (1) - Install - Engine Front Cover Removal and Installation
