Removal Procedure

  1. GM5876046

    Engine Front Cover (1) - Remove - Engine Front Cover Removal and Installation 

  2. GM5892078

    Using the EN-48589  Crankshaft Rotation Socket (1) rotate the crankshaft and crankshaft sprocket to stage 2 alignment position. Verify the timing components are correctly aligned for stage 2. Timing Chain Alignment Diagram

    Install the EN-48383 - 3  Camshaft Retaining Tool (1).

  4. GM5880894

    Compress the timing chain tensioner plunger (1) and install the EN-46112  Tensioner Retraction Pin (2).

    Timing Chain Tensioner Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

  6. Timing Chain Tensioner (2) - Remove
  7. Timing Chain Tensioner Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD

    Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain (1) - Remove

    Install the EN-48383 - 1  Camshaft Retaining Tool (1).

  13. Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain Tensioner (2) - Remove
  14. Timing Chain Housing Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD

    Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain (1) - Remove

  16. GM5890275

    Compress the timing chain tensioner plunger (1) and install the EN-46112  Tensioner Retraction Pin (2).

  18. Timing Chain Tensioner (2) - Remove
  19. Timing Chain Tensioner Gasket (3) - Remove and DISCARD

  21. Timing Chain Guide (2) - Remove

    Camshaft Intermediate Drive Chain (1) - Remove
