Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716) .
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

    Using an appropriate tool, rotate the drive belt tensioner (1) counterclockwise and hold tension.

    Accessory Drive Primary Belt (1) - Remove

  5. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner.

    Lift up on the front of the intake manifold cover (1).

    Retainer Spring (1) - Release

  8. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Throttle Body - Remove
  9. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.

    Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  11. Front Tire Front Air Deflector (2) - Remove

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

  13. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]
  14. Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Screw (1) - Remove [3x]

  16. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove [7x]

  18. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) - Remove [4x]
  19. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) - Remove

    Retainer Spring (1) - Release

  21. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Charge Air Cooler (3) - Remove

    Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Clip Bracket Bolt (4) - Remove

  23. Reposition the air conditioning compressor hose.

    Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  25. Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket (2) - Reposition away

    Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Generator - Remove

  27. Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Remove

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

    Remove the upper generator bolt (1).

  30. Loosen the lower generator bolt (2) until it is disengaged from the generator bracket.

    Remove the generator (1) and the generator lower mounting bolt.

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord (1) @ Engine Coolant Heater (2) - Disconnect

  33. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LSY with V03 GE 47716) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (LF4 GE 47716) .

    Generator (1) - Remove

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord (1) @ Engine Coolant Heater (2) - Disconnect

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (1) @ Engine Wiring Harness - Remove

  37. Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (2) @ Air Conditioning Refrigerant Heat Exchanger - Remove

    Drill out the front bumper fascia extension rivets (1) and DISCARD [4x].

  39. Front License Plate Bracket (2) - Remove
  40. Separate the engine coolant heater wiring extension harness form the front license plate bracket.
  41. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Screw (1) - Remove [10x]

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Screw (1) - Remove [6x]

  44. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (2) - Remove [5x]
  45. Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Retainer (3) - Remove [2x]

    Pull the front bumper fascia center air deflector (1) rearward and down from the front bumper fascia.

    Radiator Air Front Lower Baffle Retainer (1) - Remove [3x]

    Radiator Air Front Lower Baffle (1) - Remove

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (1) @ Engine Control Module Bracket - Remove [2x]

  50. Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (2) @ Front Compartment Inner Side Rail - Remove

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (1) @ Front Compartment Inner Side Rail - Remove

  52. Engine Coolant Heater Cord Retainer (2) @ Front Bumper Impact Bar - Remove [3x]
  53. Engine Coolant Heater Wiring Extension Harness (3) - Remove
