Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B Static Fill) , or Cooling System Draining and Filling (L3B GE 47716)
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

    Using an appropriate tool, rotate the drive belt tensioner (1) counterclockwise and hold tension.

    Accessory Drive Primary Belt (1) - Remove

  5. Slowly release tension on the drive belt tensioner.

    Lift up on the front of the intake manifold cover (1).

    Intake Manifold Cover (1) @ Upper Intake Manifold Bracket (2) - Remove

    Retainer Spring (1) - Release

  9. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Throttle Body - Remove
  10. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

    Quantity of fasteners may vary based on option content.

    Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [4x]

  12. Front Tire Front Air Deflector (2) - Remove

    Tire and Wheel Assembly-Left Front (2) - Remove - Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

    Engine Front Splash Shield Retainer (2) - Remove [2x]

  15. Engine Front Splash Shield Bolt (1) - Remove [5x]
  16. Engine Front Splash Shield (3) - Remove

    Front Bumper Fascia Center Air Deflector Bolt (1) - Remove [3x]

  18. Front Bumper Fascia Bolt (2) - Remove [2x]

    Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) - Remove [7x]

  20. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) - Remove [4x]
  21. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) - Remove

    Retainer Spring (1) - Release

  23. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Tube (2) @ Charge Air Cooler (3) - Remove
  24. GM5314114

    Air Conditioning Evaporator Tube Clip Bracket Bolt (4) - Remove

  25. Reposition the air conditioning compressor hose.

    Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket Bolt (1) - Remove

  27. Radiator Inlet Hose Bracket (2) - Reposition away

    Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Generator - Remove

  29. Auxiliary Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) - Remove

    Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect

    Remove the upper generator bolt (1).

  32. Loosen the lower generator bolt (2) until it is disengaged from the generator bracket.

    Remove the generator (1) with the generator lower mounting bolt (2).

    The throttle body assembly is removed for illustration purposes only.

    Engine Coolant Heater Cord (1) @ Engine Coolant Heater (2) - Disconnect

    Engine Coolant Heater (1) - Remove
